Stokes Counseling Services is excited to announce we are now offering Telehealth counseling! Telehealth is a form of video-based counseling where you can receive the support of a counselor from the comfort of your home or workplace. This service is designed to bring greater accessibility to people who find it difficult to come into our office. Whether it is the time, distance, or you find it uncomfortable to come into a therapy office, telehealth counseling is an option to get you the support you need in an environment where you are the most comfortable. If you’re ready to find out more about telehealth counseling services, contact our Naugatuck office today. While we’re located in the Waterbury and Naugatuck region, telehealth allows us to provide our services for residents throughout Connecticut.
What is Telehealth Counseling?
Telehealth counseling is traditional talk therapy conducted via online video conferencing tools. These sessions are much like face-to-face therapy, but they allow us to conduct counseling sessions with people almost anywhere. This is a great option for those who live in remote areas, who can’t take time away from work or school for their counseling sessions, and those who travel frequently.
What Happens During a Session?
During your telehealth counseling session, we can talk about a number of life challenges, set goals for self-improvement or overcoming daily struggles, and help you develop the tools you need to face difficulty head on. These sessions are conducted through to a web-based, HIPPA-compliant video conferencing tool called Doxyme. Doxyme is a web-based service, so you do not need to download a program or software. Your therapist will send you the link to our virtual waiting room where you will be able to see one of our therapists in real time. This will help extend our reach to individuals in all of Connecticut who want to receive counseling support through Stokes Counseling Services.
Who Provides Telehealth Counseling?
Our telehealth services are offered by our highly experienced therapists. You will be able to choose a counselor who you think you might work best with. We encourage you to check out the pictures and profiles of clinicians who provide telehealth counseling. If you’re a current client who’s interested in this option, please let your counselor know. Our team members who offer telehealth counseling are all qualified professionals with a variety of skillsets and areas of expertise to help you achieve your counseling goals. Does My Insurance Cover Telehealth Sessions?
Telehealth counseling is still a relatively new treatment option, and many insurers aren’t providing coverage for these services. It’s important to contact your health insurance company prior to starting telehealth counseling to ensure coverage is available. Currently, Medicaid (HUSKY) plans are not covering telehealth counseling. If you’re interested in telehealth counseling, we’ll be happy to help you review your insurance benefits and predetermine coverage, so don’t hesitate to ask our team members.
Am I a Candidate for Telehealth Counseling?
It is important to note that no form of counseling is right for every person. Your first appointment with your therapist will allow you to talk to him/her more about what is going on for you and how we can help.. From there, we can determine if telehealth is the right course of treatment for you. If telehealth is not the best treatment solution, your therapist will offer outside referrals closer to you, so you can get access to more compatible services.
