    FAM Program

Families Are Made & We Can Help Yours

One of the most unique therapy opportunities offered through Stokes Counseling Services is the FAM Program. FAM stands for Families Are Made, and this innovative approach to developing thriving family systems is available for our clients in their own homes. If you’re interested in the FAM Program, read the information on this page. Then, give our team a call. We’re currently accepting new families in various towns across Connecticut.

    What is the FAM Program?

FAM is an in-home family therapy program designed to work with families who are having a difficult time communicating and working together as a family. You will be matched up with a licensed clinician who is highly trained to help your family break through unhelpful communication styles and increase your teamwork. All services within the program are delivered in the home, which can enhance family comfort to help reach maximum potential.

    Why is Family Therapy Important?

Family therapy is a type of therapy in which the therapist does not focus on one individual client. The therapist focuses on the family as a whole. Each person plays an important role in how the family communicates, interacts, and relates to one another. Focusing on the family system, rather than the individual, helps address larger issues such as communication, conflict, and understanding one another.

What Happens During the FAM Program?

Each family’s needs will be different, and your FAM Program counselor will tailor sessions to help heal the family system and create a fulfilling, safe, and healthy home environment. Unlike traditional family therapy that involves working with a counselor in an office or clinic setting, our FAM Program takes place right in your home. This gives us an opportunity to see where and how your family lives together. We work with you in an environment where you feel safe and comfortable. As the name suggests, our program is based on the belief that families are made, and that whether you’re a nuclear family, you’re bringing together families through marriage, or you foster or adopt one or more children, any family can benefit from working with skilled professionals to grow together and thrive as a family unit.
