You Don’t Have to do it All to Have it All – Let’s Talk!

Women face a lot of pressure to look, feel, and act a specific way. Whether you hear these messages in the media or from your own family, the idea that there is only one right way to be you creates a lot of unnecessary pressure and stress. Let’s stop trying to be what someone else expects us to be and work together to love and accept ourselves for who we are. If that sounds good, it’s time to reach out to the Stokes Counseling team. Our therapists have training to help people of all genders to understand the unique situations they face and navigate a world that may present obstacles. When you’re ready to start living and feeling better – let’s talk about women’s counseling services with our Naugatuck, CT team.

Why Should I Consider Therapy?

Women’s counseling can be beneficial in a variety of situations from managing complex emotions or navigating life transitions to dealing directly with gender-based discrimination. The goal of therapy is to help individuals develop the necessary skills to move through their lives with more meaning and fulfillment. Some of the reasons women may visit us for therapy include:

  • Depression, Anxiety & Mood Disorders
  • Perinatal Mental Health Concerns
  • Infertility
  • Food & Eating Disorders
  • Healing After Violence or Abuse
  • Dealing with Discrimination
  • Parenting Struggles
  • Hormonal Changes & Menopause

What Happens During Therapy Sessions?

Whatever brings you to therapy at Stokes Counseling, our therapists want to help you feel better and make progress toward living a more satisfying life. This process will be different for everyone we see. Each of our counselors has training in a range of therapy approaches that allow them to meet their clients where they are and walk with them through the therapy journey to reach their destination. We incorporate a number of evidence-based therapy techniques that are proven solutions to help individuals make progress. In addition to our work in the office, we may give you “homework.” This isn’t going to be graded. Instead, homework is how you apply the skills you’re learning during therapy sessions in your real life to see the progress you’re making.
