    Men’s Counseling Services

Being a “Manly Man” Doesn’t Mean Not Asking for Help – Let’s Talk!

The media, our culture, and maybe even your own loved ones have a lot to say about what it means to be a man. Are you meeting all the standards of masculinity the world seems to be comparing you to? If you answered no, that’s completely okay. If you answered, who would want to? That’s okay too! At Stokes Counseling, we offer men’s counseling services that help you develop the skills to live a healthy, satisfying life. When you’re ready to start your therapy journey, our counselors are here to talk with you.

    Why Should I Consider Therapy?

Men are significantly less likely than women to seek therapy services. Talking about your feelings, admitting you need help, and depending on other people for support have often been considered “unmanly” behaviors. At Stokes Counseling, we know that sometimes the real proof of your masculinity is found in your ability to reach out when you need help. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy, but if you’re ready to start experiencing more joy and fulfillment and less stress and frustration, we’re here to help. Some of the reasons you may want to consider partnering with us for counseling include:

    • Poorly managed anger
    • Overwhelming stress
    • Anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
    • Struggles with career or employment
    • Substance use disorders
    • Depression, bipolar, and other mood disorders
    • Issues with relationships
    • Difficulties related to fatherhood and parenting
    • Navigating difficult life transitions

    What Happens During Therapy Sessions?

No therapy approach is right for every person, but our skilled counselors have advanced training and experience to help you tackle a variety of concerns and achieve your goals, using a range of therapy styles and approaches. Each session will be focused on reviewing your reason for visiting, difficult or problematic experiences since your last session, and goals for you to make progress toward achieving your desired results. This might include “homework assignments.” These are just some tasks that help you apply the knowledge and skills you learn in our office to your actual life.

    How do I Get Started?

To get started, simply give the Stokes Counseling Services team a call or complete our request form. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have and schedule a first session for you in our Naugatuck clinic. We are also proud to offer telehealth counseling services online, if you would prefer to conduct your sessions virtually.
